PUHSC Delegation Visits Group of Eight Members

A Peking University Health Science Center (PUHSC) delegation led by PUHSC Vice President Duan Liping visited The University of Western Australia, The University of Melbourne, and The University of Sydney in June 25-29.

At The University of Western Australia, Dr. Duan met with Vice-Chancellor Dawn Freshwater, and the two sides discussed possibilities for cooperation in terms of short-term exchange program, visiting scholars program, joint doctoral program, summer school and research in cancer, regenerative medicine and neurology.

At The University of Melbourne, the two sides held talks on medical curriculum, continuing medical education and educational reform. They also engaged in a heated discussion on cancer-related issues and decided to host a joint seminar on cancer later this year.

At The University of Sydney, the visitors and the hosts briefed each other on their latest research and decided to continue with the exchange program, host a joint seminar on cancer in 2019, and have follow-up activities to explore possible cooperation in the field of cancer treatment, in particular radiology, lymphoma and big data.

The three universities were all members to the Group of Eight (Go8), a coalition of leading Australian universities. This visit was expected to strengthen ties between the PUHSC and the three universities in medical education and research.
