PKUPH Research on Lupus Published on Science

A recent study from a research group led by Prof. Li Zhanguo of Peking University People’s Hospital (PKUPH) was published on Science , which for the first time reported on the molecular variation of human immunoglobulin that led to increased susceptibility to systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). This variation, as the study observed, was involved in the regulation of B lymphocytes. This study was conducted in collaboration with Prof. Liu Wanli’s group of Tsinghua University, and was allegedly the first Chinese research on B cell activation and regulation that appeared on Science . Its findings were significant in that they might have identified a potential target for precision treatment and laid foundation for targeted immunotherapy.
