Research directions: 1.Birth defects Folic acid, homocysteine and neural tube defects. Genetic determinants of birth defects: polymorphisms and next-generation sequencing. Environmental pollutants (heavy metals and organic chemicals) and birth defects. Folic acid supplementation and effectiveness evaluation. Long-term effect of maternal folic acid supplementation on child growth, development, and cognition. 2.Nutrition, pregnancy outcomes and children’s health Hemoglobin and pregnancy outcomes and pregnancy complications. Folic acid, folic acid plus iron, and multivitamins and pregnancy outcomes.
