During the meeting, Wang Jiadong, Vice President of PKUHSC, noted that the PKUHSC-UM Medical School Joint Institute for Translational Medicine and Clinical Research (hereinafter referred to as the “Joint Institute”) has achieved remarkable results over the past 16 years. In recent years, in addition to regular collaborative research projects, the Joint Institute has launched programs for young scholars and initiatives to cultivate and enhance leadership in the medical field, providing young physicians and scientists with opportunities to study and train in Michigan. Through joint efforts, both parties can fully leverage their respective unique strengths to promote mutual benefit, win-win outcomes, and shared development.

Joseph Korlars noted that the partnership between UM Medical School and PKUHSC fosters a high degree of mutual trust and confidence among researchers from both institutions, and that this successful model of collaboration serves as a model for international cooperation between Chinese and foreign universities. He expressed his hope that future collaboration between UM Medical School and PKUHSC will make further contributions to international cooperation and the advancement of medical education.
