New Breakthrough – PKU " Cancer Integromics " Science Center Approved by the Ministry of Education

Recently, the Ministry of Education issued the 2022 Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Education on the Project Establishment and Construction of the Frontier Science Center . The approval of the project establishment and construction of the Peking University " Cancer Integromics " Frontier Science Center is a new breakthrough of our university in building national-level major basic research platforms.

Academician Zhan Qimin is the chief scientist (director of the Center) of the " Cancer Integromics " Frontier Science Center. In view of the high incidence of malignant tumors with Chinese characteristics, the Center will carry out in-depth interdisciplinary research around the three tasks of "establishing a theoretical system of the incidence and evolution of high-incidence tumors with Chinese characteristics; exploring new markers and new targets for cancer diagnosis and treatment so as to establish Chinese standards for accurate diagnosis and treatment; and establishing a Chinese approach for the treatment of drug resistance/metastasis/recurrence of cancer based on the integration of multi-omics data". Facing the cutting-edge scientific issues and the needs for cancer clinical diagnosis and treatment, the Center will gather multidisciplinary expert teams, strengthen team research, vigorously promote original theoretical innovations and independent technological breakthroughs, and accelerate industrial transformation, which will be of great significance to enhance China's international influence in the field of life medicine, build strategic scientific and technological strength, and promote the implementation of the Healthy China strategy.
