PKUFH Approved as a Pilot “Flagship” Hospital for the Integration of TCM and Western Medicine
In February 2023, the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Health Commission and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine jointly issued the Proposed List of the "Flagship" Hospital Pilot Units and Pilot Project Construction Units for the Integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Western Medicine, and Peking University First Hospital (PKUFH) was approved as a pilot "Flagship" Hospital.
The "Flagship" Hospital Construction Project for the Integration of TCM and Western Medicine aims to strengthen the construction of disciplines related to the integration of TCM and Western medicine, establish clinical research platforms and multidisciplinary teams, carry out joint research on TCM and western medicine so as to provide the integration work with mechanism, team, measures, and productivity, promote the coordinated development of teaching and research of integrated TCM and western medicine, and play a leading role in the flagship development of integrated TCM and western medicine throughout the country.
With the start of the "flagship" hospital construction for integrated TCM and western medicine, PKUFH will further enhance the level of integrated diagnosis and treatment for dominant diseases, expand the advantageous areas of TCM in such fields as disease prevention and rehabilitation, aim for high-quality fundamental clinical research in the integration of TCM and western medicine, comprehensively establish an efficient and harmonious mechanism for the integration, improve the diagnosis and treatment capabilities, service conditions, and research level in this field, and thus create a “flagship” brand for the integration between TCM and Western medicine in a comprehensive hospital.
