Ma Yinghua Attends the Meeting with Yang Xinyu, Ambassador Level Rep of China to UNESCO
On December 7, 2023, Yang Xinyu, the Chinese Ambassador Level Representative to UNESCO, led his delegation for an inspection tour to Peking University. Fang Fang, member of the Standing Committee of PKU Party Committee and Vice President, met with the group. Ma Yinghua, professor from the School of Public Health and chair host of Global Health and Education, was invited to participate in the symposium.
Professor Ma Yinghua reported to the ambassador that with the support of leaders at all levels of Peking University Health Science Center (PKUHSC) and the School of Public Health, the UNESCO chair construction work has been progressing orderly; The UNESCO-Peking University Joint Project on Health Education for Girls in Africa has achieved initial effects; The co-authored Report on UNESCO Global Nutrition and School Health has been released; As a representative of China, she was invited to give a special report titled "School-based Multi-departmental Assistance to Promote the Health and Wellbeing of Chinese Students" at the Global Health and Education Chair Seminar, providing Chinese solutions and making Chinese voice heard. And meanwhile, as the leader of the National Health School Construction Expert Group, her team is actively promoting the construction of healthy schools in China and help integrate the innovative application of health education into the entire curriculum and life skill education.
Yang Xinyu expressed her recognition for Peking University's achievements in participating in UNESCO and global governance. She emphasized the importance of schools actively engaged in global governance affairs and international organization cooperation, and approbated the measures taken by the UNESCO Chair on Global Health and Education to voice Chinese opinions and present Chinese solutions through various projects.
