First Batch of Students from PKUHSC-MPUNA Arrive to Register

On March 1st, the first batch of seventy-seven students from Peking University Health Science Center-Macao Polytechnic University Nursing Academy arrived at Beijing and were about to start their eight months of theoretical learning and clinical practice. Lao Weng Ian, head of MPU Student Affairs Office, and Jin Xiaoyan, Associate Dean of PKUHSC-MPUNA, accompanied the students during the registration and expressed their gratitude to PKUHSC and School of Nursing for their careful arrangement and thoughtful service.

Qiao Jie, PKU Executive Vice President and PKUHSC President, exchanged cordially with the students at the registration site and expressed warm welcome and sincere greetings to the arrival of Macao teachers and students. 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of the return of Macao. Executive Vice President Qiao Jie told the students to seize the precious opportunity, while learning the professional knowledge, to walk around and take a look, fully appreciating the great rivers and mountains of the motherland and feeling the urban development and traditional culture of Beijing. She also expressed the wish that the students could gain a happy and rich experience in Beijing and PKU Medicine, apply what they have learned to clinical practice, and facilitate the construction and development of Macao’s nursing cause.

To implement the central government’s deployment of Macao and support the development of Macao’s hygiene and health undertakings, PKUHSC and MPU signed a cooperation agreement in the field of nursing on June 8, 2021, and formally established “Peking University Health Science Center-Macau Polytechnic University Nursing Academy”. With the strong support from the National Health Commission, the Ministry of Education, the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, and the Macao SAR Government, since the establishment of the Nursing Academy almost three years ago, it has developed smoothly and achieved remarkable results, and has continuously improved the overall level of nursing personnel training in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Macao.
