The 2nd Forum on China-ASEAN Cooperation in Public Health & Annual Assembly of China-ASEAN University Consortium on Medicine and Health Held in Beijing

  

  On June 27, 2024, the 2nd Forum on China-ASEAN Cooperation in Public Health & Annual Assembly of China-ASEAN University Consortium on Medicine and Health were successfully held at Peking University. The forum is co-hosted by Peking University Health Science Center (PKUHSC) and Mahidol University in Thailand, and jointly organized by Peking University School of Public Health, China-ASEAN Science and Technology Cooperation Center for Public Health, and PKUHSC Office of International Cooperation Office. The theme of this forum is " Innovations in Development Cooperation for Medical Devices and Technology Cooperation, and the Cooperation and Development among Members of the China-ASEAN University Consortium on Medicine and Health". More than 200 government officials, medical university presidents, public health experts, medical experts, business representatives, teachers and students from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and China, as well as representatives from international organizations such as the China-ASEAN Center, the World Health Organization, and the United Nations Children's Fund, attended the forum.

  

  The forum released the Beijing Declaration on China-ASEAN Medical Technology Innovation Cooperation . The declaration calls for building an effective, open, and inclusive China-ASEAN medical innovation ecosystem; developing suitable and affordable medical products targeting key populations and diseases in China-ASEAN region with the use of new technologies and methods; coordinating regional development plans and improving the fairness and accessibility of medical products within the region; optimizing and enhancing the regulatory approach for medical products between China and ASEAN, and promoting the coordinated and integrated development of regulatory cooperation within the region; Strengthening cross-departmental cooperation, establishing resilient health systems, and achieving sustainable development through innovative cooperation. Relevant leaders and guests present at the meeting jointly witnessed the release of the declaration.
