PKU Executive Vice President Academician Qiao Jie Leads a Delegation to Visit Germany
Qiao Jie, Executive Vice President of Peking University and President of PKU Health Science Center, led a delegation to visit Ulm University and the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in Germany from October 20th to 23rd, 2024.
During the visit to Ulm University, the two sides held the 10th anniversary celebration of “Peking University Health Science Center-Ulm University Joint Research Center for Neuroscience.” Qiao Jie and Michael Weber, President of Ulm University, delivered speeches respectively.
At the celebration, Thomas Wirth, Dean of the Medical Faculty of Ulm University, introduced Ulm University’s latest developments in medicine. Bernhard Landwehrmeyer, Acting Head of Neurology of Ulm University, Albert Ludolph, Professor of Nueroscience, Huang Yining, Professor of Neurology of PKU First Hospital, Fan Dongsheng, Director of Neurology of PKU Third Hospital, and Zhang Rong, Associate Research Fellow at PKU Institute of Neuroscience, reported on previous cooperation projects as project leader representatives from the Joint Research Center. In the past ten years, the two sides have published 52 papers, one e-book, and three monographs, obtained two invention patents, and attracted a number of external financial support. Up till now, the cooperative project team of the two sides has been continuing to publish important papers and monographs, carry out talent training, and promote transnational joint scientific research and academic progress.
During the delegation’s visit to TUM, Harald Olk, Director of TUM’s International Center, and Thomas Misgeld, Vice President of TUM School of Medicine and Health, introduced the latest developments of TUM and in scientific research at TUM School of Medicine and Health, respectively. Sun Qiudan, Director of PKUHSC Department of International Cooperation, introduced the overall situation and the latest scientific research progress of PKUHSC. Pan Kaifeng reported on the project of “Peking University Cancer Hospital-Technical University of Munich Joint Key Laboratory of Upper Gastrointestinal Cancer.” The two sides later conducted fruitful discussions on cooperation in the fields of upper gastrointestinal caner, neuroscience and emergency trauma.
