Palliative Care Experts of Project HOPE Visit Beijing Cancer Hospital
Beijing Cancer Hospital hosted a 6-person delegation of Project HOPE (Health Opportunities for People Everywhere) recently at its nursing department. The visitors included Project HOPE’s coordinator in Beijing, palliative care specialists from Kaiser Permanente and Silicon Valley Medical Clinic, founder of Chinese American Coalition for Compassionate Care, and nursing educationalist from UC Davis Medical Center.
The visiting experts spoke highly of the nursing services in accelerated rehabilitation, case management and ostomy at the third ward of the gastrointestinal tumor center, the standardization and informatization of nurse-led rehabilitation management for swallowing disorders at the department of head and neck surgery, the treatment with traditional Chinese medicine at the department of geriatric oncology, and the unique services provided at the rehabilitation department to relieve the physical and mental pain of patients.
The two-hour visit enhanced mutual understanding and opened possibility for more cooperation.
