On December 22, 2024, a delegation composed of five people, including Professor Wing-tak Wong, Deputy President and Provost of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Professor Hau-chung Man, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Professor Ming Zhang, Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, visited Peking University Third Hospital (PKUTH). This visit aimed to explore the cooperation between the two sides in aspects such as jointly building laboratories, applying for projects, cultivating talents, and innovating through the integration of medicine and engineering, so as to promote medical innovation and disciplinary development. On behalf of the hospital, Professor Wei Fu, President of PKUTH, welcomed the delegation and chaired a symposium. Heads of relevant departments and representatives of experts from the hospital participated in the discussion.

　　During the discussion, both sides conducted in-depth discussions on topics including specific directions, models and mechanisms for the interdisciplinary cooperation between medicine and engineering. A preliminary consensus was reached on jointly building an innovative research laboratory for the medical-engineering cooperation in the early diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment of tumors. Both sides unanimously agreed to take this visit as an opportunity to further strengthen communication and contact, thus promoting the interdisciplinary cooperation between medicine and engineering to achieve more fruitful results.
