On January 6, the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Awards, one of the most important science and technology awards in the medical field, announced the 2024 awards list, with a total of 90 awards. Peking University Medicine achieved a brilliant start and took the lead in winning 10 awards, including 3 first-class awards. The total number of awards and the number of first-class awards reached a record high. After breaking the record of the 2024 Huaxia Medical Science and Technology Award, PKU Medicine made a breakthrough again in the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award.

　　First Prize: Innovation and promotion of organ preservation and functional remodeling technology for malignant tumors of female reproductive system

　　Joint research on the treatment of malignant tumor of female reproductive system to preserve fertility function. It has proposed the “4R” concept of relieving tumors, prereserving organs, remodeling functions, and completing fertility and established the diagnosis and treatment system of “treatment-nursing-assistance-education” that has radiated throughout the whole country.

　　First Prize: Research and development of oral hard tissue repair materials and clinical key technologies

　　In view of the current worldwide problems in the field of oral cavity, a full-chain innovative research and application promotion have been carried out, and a series of breakthroughs have been achieved, including the long-term durability, efficient pain relief, significant increase in alveolar bone mass, and significant improvement in repair effect.

　　First Prize: Establishment and popularization of precision diagnosis and treatment technology for gastric cancer

　　With a focus on the key clinical problems in the diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer, major technological breakthroughs have been achieved: building a new model of comprehensive treatment, creating a new system of precision surgery, setting new standards for immunotherapy. At the same time, the team hosted the International Gastric Cancer Conference in China for the first time and the results were recognized by academic circles at home and abroad.

　　Aiming at the key problems of mucosal melanoma such as poor prognosis and no standard treatment plan, innovative research and application promotion from basic to clinical have been carried out and a series of innovative results have been achieved.

　　Second Prize: Chinese mental health survey

　　First Completer: Huang Yueqin, PKU Sixth Hospital

　　The first nationally representative epidemiological survey of mental disorders. With the tools and methods in line with the international advanced level, important data were obtained on the prevalence, disability rate, mutilation rate, disease burden, service utilization and influencing factors of 36 mental disorders in 7 categories, which has made outstanding contributions to providing scientific decision-making basis for the country.

　　Third Prize: A precise management system based on improving peri-anesthetic organ protection and long-term prognosis

　　First Completer: Wang Dongxin, PKU First Hospital

　　Aiming at the key problems such as improving peri-anesthetic organ protection and long-term prognosis, the whole chain innovation research and application promotion were carried out and a series of innovative results were achieved.

　　Third Prize: Talking about the “heart”: Building a matrixing popular science education system for public heart health

　　First Completer: Liu Jian, PKU People’s Hospital

　　The team used multi-dimensional integrated media communication to construct a three-dimensional popular science publicity system for public heart health—Talking about the “heart”: building a matrixing popular science education system for public heart health, providing the public with comprehensive and professional heart science content while also driving peers to participate in popular science creation.

　　Third Prize: New mechanisms and theories of membrane receptors in cardiovascular diseases and their intervention strategies

　　First Completer: Li Zijian, PKU Third Hospital

　　The team originally proposed a new theory of membrane receptor activation and a precise intervention strategy, forming a cardiovascular membrane receptor research system of “theoretical guidance→mechanism exploration→intervention strategy”.

　　Third Prize: High-resolution copper isotope clinical positron tomography reveals tumor micrometastasis

　　First Completer: Yang Zhi, PKU Cancer Hospital

　　Aiming at the bottleneck problem in the medium and long-term development plan of medical isotopes in our country, the clinical translation of medium and long half-life nuclide 64Cu has been successfully promoted in China.

　　Youth Science and Technology Award: Establishment and application of NK cell reconstruction monitoring system after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

　　First Completer: Zhao Xiangyu, PKU People’s Hospital

　　The team conducted in-depth research on the regulatory mechanism and monitoring system of NK cell immune reconstitution after transplantation. The research results have been written into 14 domestic and foreign guidelines/consensuses of organizations such as the European Society for Bone Marrow Transplantation, British Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics, and the French Society for Bone Marrow Transplantation, which has directly influenced the formulation standards of donor selection guidelines in China, the United States, Britain, France and other European countries.
