President of University of Manchester Visits Peking University
On February 25, Professor Duncan Ivison, President and Vice-Chancellor of The University of Manchester, led a delegation to visit Peking University. PKU President Gong Qihuang met with the guests in Linhuxuan, where the two sides signed the memorandum of understanding on cooperation and held a discussion on deepening the cooperation between the two universities. Qiao Jie, Executive Vice President of PKU and President of PKU Health Science Center, accompanied the meeting.
Before the meeting, the two sides held a seminar on cooperation in the field of medicine between PKU and the University of Manchester. The seminar was chaired by Wang Jiadong, Vice President of PKUHSC. Qiao Jie reviewed the history of cooperation between PKUHSC and Manchester’s Faculty of Biology, Medicine, and Health. She said that during the past ten years, the two sides have worked together to establish a profound friendship and have achieved remarkable results in talent training and academic exchanges. Ivison said that the cooperation between the two universities has not only become a model of international cooperation but also made important contributions to the development of global medicine and health science. He expects that the two sides will work together to continue to play a greater role in solving global health problems. During the talks, the two sides held in-depth discussions on the strategy for future cooperation.
