Strategic Cooperation Memorandum Signed by PKUHSC and HKUST

  

  On March 6, 2025, Qiao Jie, Executive Vice President of Peking University (PKU) and President of Peking University Health Science Center (PKUHSC), and Nancy Y. IP, President of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), signed a strategic cooperation memorandum, marking that the cooperation between the two sides in the fields of medical education and scientific and technological innovation has entered a new stage.

  In 2000, PKU, HKUST and the Shenzhen Municipal Government jointly established the Shenzhen PKU-HKUST Medical Center, pioneering an innovative medical platform integrating medical services, teaching, scientific research and achievement transformation. Meanwhile, HKUST and PKUHSC have joined hands to explore the cultivation of compound medical talents with both scientific research and clinical capabilities, jointly launching a MD-PhD dual-degree program. In this cooperation, the two sides will carry out more in-depth collaboration in clinical training for students of both regions, sharing of teaching resources, and faculty exchanges, so as to promote the reform and innovation of the medical education model. In addition, the two sides also plan to make concerted efforts in key areas such as precision medicine, biomedical engineering and prevention and treatment of major diseases, striving to achieve breakthroughs with significant influence and providing strong support for addressing major national health problems.
