PKU People’s Hospital VP Spoke at CSW69
Vice President of Peking University People’s Hospital attended the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) held at United Nations Headquarters in New York from 10 to 21 March and spoke at a side event themed “Accelerating Action: Women, Technology and Sustainable Futures”.
In his speech titled “Fertility Preservation in Young Women with Cancers: Current Practices and Future Directions”, Prof. Wang Jianliu systematically reviewed China’s innovative practices in the field.
During the session, Prof. Wang met with Dr. Thomas G. Hedberg, Executive Director at International Medical Crisis Response Alliance, as well as youth representatives from Boston and Toronto, and talked with them on the global summit sponsored by China and UN Women to be held later this year. In his talks with Peaceland Foundation and Beijing AngelMom Charity Foundation, agreements were made on health promotion and medical aid for fertility preservation and cancer screening in western China, Asia at large and Africa.
During his stay, Prof. Wang visited Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) and met with Deputy Chief Dr. Dennis S. Chi of its Gynecology Service. They discussed clinical research on combinations of antimetabolites with other anticancer agents, publication of the Chinese version of the MSKCC classic Principles and Practice of Gynecologic Oncology , and cooperation with the journal Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinical Medicine .
As one of the most important arenas for gender equality and women empowerment, CSW69 focused on review and appraisal of the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action over the last 30 years, and gathered researchers, officials and advocates from all over the world.
