PKU Shenzhen Hospital Opens a New Chapter in Shenzhen-Hong Kong Medical Cooperation
On May 14, the signing ceremony of “Hong Kong Elderly Medical Voucher Designated Medical Service Institutions in the Greater Bay Area” was held in Hong Kong. The Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region signed agreements with 12 mainland medical institutions newly included in the “Greater Bay Area Pilot Plan for Elderly Medical Voucher.” Peking University Shenzhen Hospital became one of the two newly added pilot institutions in Shenzhen. The signing also marks a new chapter in Shenzhen-Hong Kong medical cooperation, and the integration of medical and health services in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has entered a new stage.
PKU Shenzhen Hospital is located in the central area of Futian District, enjoying a significant geographical advantage. Its comprehensive strength has ranked among the top ten in Guangdong Province and first in Shenzhen for seven consecutive years. In terms of international medical services, the hospital has an international medical department, equipped with a multilingual service team, and its diagnosis and treatment standards are in line with those of Hong Kong. In the past four years, it has provided services to over 25,000 patients from more than 80 countries and regions, and has accumulated rich experience in the field of cross-border medical care. It has become one of the main choices for cross-border medical care for Hong Kong and Macao residents and foreigners.
The first batch of departments in PKU Shenzhen Hospital that are eligible for the elderly medical voucher include a number of internal medicine and surgical clinics. At present, the hospital is actively carrying out follow-up work with the Medical and Health Bureau and the Department of Health of the Hong Kong SAR Government, including personnel training, financial arrangements, system docking and so on.
The signing ceremony is an important milestone in deepening the medical cooperation between Shenzhen and Hong Kong as well as between Guangdong and Hong Kong. It not only broadens the channels for high-quality medical services for the elderly in Hong Kong but also sets a new benchmark for the coordinated development of medical care in the Greater Bay Area.
