The 4th Edition of China Kidney Disease Scientific Report Edited by PKUFH Was Published in English
The China Kidney Disease Scientific Report is an important benchmark for kidney disease surveillance in China. Recently, Kidney International Supplements (IF 19.3), the authoritative journal of the International Society of Nephrology, published the fourth edition of “China Kidney Disease Network (CK-NET) 2017-2018 Annual Data Report” online in full text. The editors-in-chief of this report are Professor Zhang Luxia and Professor Zhao Minghui from Peking University First Hospital (PKUFH). The full text of the English version is 16 chapters and over 130 pages.
The core writing team of this report comes from the Department of Nephrology/ Center for Digital Health and Artificial Intelligence of PKUFH, the National Institute of Health Data Science of PKU, the Center for Kidney Disease Data of PKU Health Science Center, and the Advanced Institute of Information Technology of PKU in Zhejiang Province. It brought together the key research forces from over 20 medical institutions across the country and four provincial dialysis quality control centers in Jiangsu, Ningxia, Zhejiang and Hunan, covering interdisciplinary professional backgrounds such as clinical medicine, public health, health data science, artificial intelligence, and environmental science. It took two years to complete the report. For the first time, a special chapter on the correlation between environmental pollution and kidney disease was included, and the innovative application of artificial intelligence and large model technology in the diagnosis and treatment of kidney disease was explored.
To date, CK-NET has established an academic cooperation network covering more than 70 large-scale kidney disease diagnosis and treatment centers and several regional health and medical data platforms in China. From 2017 to 2025, it has successively published four reports in English and two reports in Chinese. The related results have been published in top international medical journals such as Lancet , NEJM and BMJ , and won the second prize of Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award in 2024. Under the wave of digital transformation, CK-NET will further expand its data coverage, strengthen its technical support capabilities, and continuously produce high-quality evidence-based medical data, so as to provide solid support for promoting the high-quality development of renal disease prevention and treatment in China.
