President of the University of Manchester Visits PKUHSC
On March 16, 2026, Duncan Ivison, President of the University of Manchester (UM), led a delegation to visit Peking University Health Science Center (PKUHSC). Qiao Jie, President of PKUHSC and a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, met with the guests, accompanied by PKUHSC Vice President Wang Jiadong.

Qiao Jie warmly welcomed the visit of Ivison’s team. She said that PKU and UM have been working closely together for more than ten years. They have forged a deep friendship in areas such as joint talent cultivation, academic exchanges and discussions, and scientific research and collaborative innovation, achieved fruitful cooperation results and set an exemplary model of cooperation between international medical colleges and universities. PKU Medicine is willing to take this visit as an opportunity to further enhance resource sharing and complementing each other’s advantages, and work together to contribute wisdom and efforts to the advancement of global medical and health undertakings.

Ivison expressed his gratitude for PKUHSC’s warm reception. He spoke highly of PKU Medicine’s outstanding achievements in medical education, scientific research and clinical fields. He stated that UM has always valued its cooperation with PKU Medicine and hopes to further explore more possibilities for cooperation, such as establishing an innovative talent cultivation platform and joint scientific research, based on the existing cooperation projects. The two sides will cultivate medical professions with a global perspective and jointly address challenges in the global healthcare field, making unremitting efforts for the health and well-being of people in China, the UK, and the world.

During the meeting, both sides expressed that they would maintain close communication, actively promote the implementation of various cooperation plans, and jointly write a new chapter in the medical education and research cooperation between China and the UK.
