From August 31 to September 3, 2025, the 83rd World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (WCPPS) of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) was held in Copenhagen, Denmark. With the theme “Pharmacy Moving Forward: Performance, Collaboration, and Health Transformation”, this year’s congress aimed to explore the evolving role of the pharmaceutical industry amid modern healthcare challenges, and discuss how pharmacists can better drive the performance improvement of healthcare systems, promote interprofessional collaboration, and advance the transformation of global health outcomes. More than 3,400 pharmaceutical experts, scholars, and practitioners from over 120 countries and regions around the world attended the congress. Professor Zhao Rongsheng, Director of the Pharmacy Department of Peking University Third Hospital (PKUTH), led a delegation to participate in the event. A total of 4 pharmacists from the Pharmacy Department delivered academic reports and conducted exchanges at the congress.
At the sub-forum “Global Perspectives on Smart Pharmacy Services” of the congress, Zhao Rongsheng delivered a keynote report titled “A New Paradigm for the Safety of Antineoplastic Drug Use Driven by Evidence-Based Practice and AI: From Evidence-Based Decision-Making to Risk Prediction”. He shared his team's innovative explorations in building an evidence ecosystem for the safe use of antineoplastic drugs, and took classic cytotoxic chemotherapeutic drug methotrexate and new-type antineoplastic drug immune checkpoint inhibitors as examples to introduce research findings and practical experience in evidence-based medication decision-making for antineoplastic drugs, as well as intelligent prediction and management of medication risks. Colleagues attending the forum stated that the new model for clinical treatment and safety management of antineoplastic drugs established by the Chinese team has good clinical reference and promotion value.
Supervisor Pharmacists Song Zaiwei, Zhao Zhe, and Men Peng also delivered keynote sharing presentations in their respective sessions.
