"Chinese data" by PKU Researchers Added to Pulmonary hypertension prevention and treatment

Recently, at the 13th World Congress of Pulmonary Vascular Research Institute (PVRI) held in Barcelona, Peking University affiliated hospital researchers’ poster on the study of pulmonary hypertension attracted the participants’ attention once again. The study shows that valvular disease, congenital heart disease and connective tissue disease-related pulmonary hypertension should be the three key aspects in the prevention and treatment of pulmonary hypertension in China at this stage.

Based on the case data from affiliated hospitals, researchers of Peking University Youth League for Pulmonary Vascular Disease Prevention and Control summarized the characteristics of pulmonary hypertension associated with connective tissue disease in China, the epidemiological baseline data of pulmonary vascular disease in southern China, and the differences in disease spectrum distribution between China and western countries, which made up for the insufficient registration data of developing countries in the international community.

Dr. Hao Yanjie from Peking University First Hospital Department of Rheumatology collected clinical data of 144 patients with connective tissue disease-related pulmonary hypertension (CTD-PAH) confirmed by right cardiac catheterization. The baseline characteristics and prognosis of CTD-PAH patients in China were analyzed for the first time.

Dr. HUANG Gang from Peking University Hospital of Stomatology pointed out in 2016 in the study of "Survival Status and Social Influencing Factors of Pulmonary Hypertension Discharged Patients" that a variety of social factors affect the prognosis of Chinese patients with pulmonary hypertension. Among them, medical level, social aid channels and disease publicity methods may be the main factors affecting the compliance and prognosis of discharged patients.

It is reported that the above research results have been published in European Respiratory Journal, the journal of Cardiovascular Diagnosis and Therapy and other well-known international journals and the official website of PVRI.
