Peking University Health Science Center Delegation Visits UK
In September, a delegation headed by Zhan Qimin, President of Peking University Health Science Center and Executive Vice President of PKU, paid a visit to the United Kingdom.
On September 16 and 17, PKUHSC delegation visited the University of Manchester (UM). The two universities held a joint symposium of three themes: “tumor and genetics”, “neurology and psychology”, and “comprehensive health studies”, and over ten satellite conferences of different themes. More than thirty specialists from the two universities made academic reports on their fields of research respectively and held discussions heatedly. Besides, the two universities shared their successful cooperation experiences of several collaborative projects.
It is noteworthy that the joint program by PKUHSC and UM—“China-UK International Advanced Training Program of Clinical Genetics and Genetic Consultation”—won the “UM Teaching Team Award”. Members of the program attended the awarding ceremony held at the UM.
On September 18, PKUHSC delegation visited King’s College London. The joint symposium held by the two universities held a joint symposium, the plenary session of which focused on four themes: “health care innovations”, “tumoromics”, “tumor epidemiology”, and “health care partnership and clinical training”. More than thirty specialists from the two universities made academic reports. Vice President Zhang Ning also went to the Francis Crick Institute to learn about their advanced design idea and management model, which can be of value to PKUHSC’s building of scientific research.
On September 19, PKUHSC delegation visited the University of Oxford. The two parties held a meeting on strategic cooperation, a signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding, and the Oxford-Peking University Joint Symposium on Precision Medicine.
