From August 24 to 29, 2026, PKU School of Basic Medical Sciences hosted the 2026 Peking University Basic Medical Sciences Talent Camp. Four distinguished overseas experts, namely Professor Liliana Schaefer from Goethe University Frankfurt, Professor William Colledge and Associate Professor Sue Jones from the University of Cambridge, and Professor Danny Chan from the University of Hong Kong, were invited to deliver immersive lectures entirely in English. Fifty outstanding undergraduate students majoring in Basic Medical Sciences from 11 universities including Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Sun Yat-sen University participated in the summer camp.

Courses of the summer camp focused on themes including metabolic reproductive regulation, synaptic signaling and neuronal plasticity, helping participants broaden their research thinking and keep abreast of academic frontiers. Meanwhile, the camp arranged for participants to conduct on-site study tours at the International Pharmaceutical Innovation Park. The first-hand exposure to cutting-edge industry deepened their understanding of the translation of medical research findings.

Adhering to the educational philosophy of “valuing competence, prioritizing innovation and strengthening practice”, the School of Basic Medical Sciences is committed to cultivating top-tier talents in basic medical sciences with global vision and innovative capacity. The school will continue to develop an international academic education platform, deepen teaching and research collaboration with world-class universities, and build more high-quality channels for young scholars to communicate and grow. It aims to help young students of basic medical sciences root themselves in China while embracing the world, and grow into promising leading talents in medical research for the future.
