PKU School of Public Health Joins APRU Members in Crisis Management Project

A joint project among members of Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) on public health crisis management saw its core group of undertakers inaugurated in June 15. The online inauguration was held by the APRU secretariat, moderated by Secretary General Christopher Tremewan, and attended by 14 scholars and administrators from Peking University School of Public Health, Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health at National University of Singapore, Fielding School of Public Health at University of California, Los Angeles, and the University of Sydney School of Public Health. The PKU team included Dean Meng Qingyue of School of Public Health, Director Zheng Zhijie of the Department of Global Health, and Secretary Wu Shuang of Foreign Affairs.

It was decided that the core group made up of the four public health schools would work with the APRU secretariat to launch webinars on public health crisis management and harbor discussions in global health as well as epidemiology of COVID-19 and policy making in its response. In addition, the core group planned to conduct city- and country-based comparative studies of coronavirus responses. To facilitate such efforts, the APRU secretariat would build a platform for members of the core group to store and share relevant data and documents.
