Following the talks, Mr. Leung Chun-ying delivered a keynote speech themed “Connecting Hearts and Minds: Social Organizations Facilitate the Building of a Global Community of Health for All”. He pointed out that among the five principles of “policy coordination, facilities connectivity, unimpeded trade, financial integration and people-to-people bonds” advocated by the Belt and Road Initiative, people-to-people bonds serves as the foundation and prerequisite for cooperation. Only through sincere exchanges, mutual respect and enhanced trust, can we lay a solid social foundation and build strong emotional bonds for global health cooperation.

Mr. Leung Chun-ying stressed that global health cooperation should always adhere to the principle of “extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits”. While notable progress has been made in the areas of extensive consultation and joint contribution, there remains considerable room for improvement in shared benefits. Going forward, greater emphasis should be placed on the inclusiveness, sustainability and visibility of cooperation outcomes, so that health benefits can truly reach people of all countries around the world, with particular attention paid to the needs of underdeveloped regions and vulnerable groups.
