From August 24 to 28, 2026, the Joint Summer School on Medical Research, co-hosted by Peking University Health Science Center (PKUHSC), King’s College London (KCL), Karolinska Institute and Keio University, was successfully held at KCL. Continuing with the theme of “AI for Medicine”, this year’s summer school focused on cutting-edge areas including artificial intelligence, large language models, quantum biology, bioinformatics, and translational clinical AI. Experts and doctoral students from the four universities gathered in London for a series of lectures, workshops, student academic presentations, institutional visits and closed-door collaborative seminars, to further deepen talent training and research cooperation among universities of the four countries in the field of medical artificial intelligence.

Relying on this exchange platform, faculty and students from PKUHSC have forged close academic ties with overseas counterparts from KCL, Karolinska Institute and Keio University. Meanwhile, extracurricular interactions allow participants to experience diverse cultural differences, broaden their global vision through cross-cultural dialogue, and achieve humanistic growth beyond academics.

A closed-door working meeting of the four institutions was held alongside the event, where they engaged in in-depth consultations on the sustainable development of the program. The four sides reached a consensus that they will establish an outcome evaluation mechanism for the project, review the effectiveness of previous summer schools through research, track tangible cooperation results, and advance the program from academic exchanges toward output-oriented in-depth research collaboration.

Going forward, PKUHSC will continue to leverage this multilateral platform to further deepen practical cooperation with KCL, Karolinska Institute and Keio University, and help cultivate high-level interdisciplinary medical talents with a global vision.
