PekingHSC Wins Gold Medal in iGEM Competition 2025
A student team of Peking University Health Science Center won a Gold Medal in the category of Therapeutics in the 22nd International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition (iGEM Competition 2025). The team, PekingHSC, was composed of undergraduate students of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and their peers at the School of Basic Medical Sciences and Hospital of Stomatology. They were nominated for Best Model, Best Wiki, Inclusivity Award and Best Therapeutics Project. The iGEM Competition is an annual, worldwide synthetic biology event.

The team’s project took a multi-disciplinary approach, bringing expertise from pharmaceutical sciences, life science, chemistry, mathematics, information and computer sciences to address global health challenges. The team is now committed to translating their work to real applications in treatment of multiple diseases.
