PKUHSC Shines at 2026 Dubai World Health Expo

Peking University Health Science Center (PKUHSC) sent a grand delegation to the 2026 World Health Expo (WHX Dubai) held February 9-13 in the United Arab Emirates. The 48-member delegation was led by President Qiao Jie of the PKUHSC and consisted of experts from its six affiliated hospitals as well as the Institute of Medical Education. The delegation brought to the expo some of China’s leading clinical technologies, research outcomes and innovative smart healthcare solutions.

During the expo, the delegation had in-depth exchanges with world-renowned institutions on medical technology, smart care, medical education and research translation. Dr. Sarper Tanli, Managing Director for Mass General Brigham’s Global Advisory for Middle East & Africa, visited the PKUHSC booth and held forward-looking discussions with the delegation on future cross-regional cooperation in healthcare service. The booth was also visited by a UK public hospital team led by Dr. David Sheppard, Deputy Head of Healthcare of the UK Department for Business and Trade, where Dr. Anya Yerokhina and Dr. David Huff, Business Development Directors at the Royal College of Surgeons of England and UCL Global Business School for Health, talked with the thoracic surgery team of Peking University People’s Hospital and the gastrointestinal oncology surgery team of Peking University Cancer Hospital on cooperation opportunities in international surgical training programs, and with Peking University Third Hospital on precision treatment and biomaterials represented by customized artificial joint, tissue-engineered cartilage scaffold models, 3D-printed acetabular cups, and degradable magnesium alloy implants.

Meanwhile, Peking University First Hospital, Peking University Hospital of Stomatology and Peking University Sixth Hospital exhibited their latest independently developed technological achievements at the expo. A series of innovative devices featuring interactivity, precision and practicality attracted numerous visitors.

During the expo, President Deng Xuliang of Peking University Hospital of Stomatology and Vice President Li Rong of Peking University Third Hospital were invited to spoke at a seminar on the interconnection between AI and Healthcare. In their presentations, they showcased China’s achievement and institutional advantages in promoting the deep integration of “artificial intelligence + healthcare” in fields such as stomatology and reproductive medicine, contributing Chinese wisdom to the global governance and coordinated development of AI healthcare.

Peking University Institute of Medical Education exhibited its shared learning platform, teachers’ training program, and MedSeekAI®, a large model for medical education, and drew a number of visitors.

President Qiao Jie, together with dignitaries from sister universities, joined hands with Mindray in launching the 2026 First Global Healthcare Collaborative Ecosystem Platform, and released the Integrated Platform for Smart Diagnosis and Treatment with United Imaging Healthcare. These initiatives aimed to deepen the collaborative innovation by industry, academia and care.

At a medical exchange salon, the PKUHSC team held in-depth discussions with officials from the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and representatives of domestic sister hospitals, sharing China's successful experience in healthcare management and smart hospital construction.

As a leader in China’s medical sector, PKUHSC’s attendance at WHX Dubai 2026 highlighted China’s advances in smart healthcare, clinical innovation and medical education, elevating the global influence of China in healthcare. Through the expo, PKUHSC and its affiliated hospitals strengthened cooperation with global medical institutions, promoting cross-border collaboration, talent exchanges and innovation translation. This strategic move expands the global reach of China’s medical technologies and services, deepens participation in international medical standards, and supports a new global health governance system.
