PKUTH Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine Participates in the 35th ERS Congress
From September 27 to October 1, 2025, the 35th Annual Congress of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) was held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. As the most influential academic event in the global field of respiratory medicine, this year’s congress, themed “Global Respiratory Health”, brought together top experts and scholars from around the world to exchange and share the latest scientific research progress and clinical practice experience in the field of respiratory medicine.
During the congress, Professor Sun Yongchang, Director of the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine at Peking University Third Hospital (PKUTH), represented the Chinese respiratory medicine community and delivered an academic report titled “Tuberculosis-Associated COPD: Consensus and Unmet Needs” at the “China Day” special session. In addition, Professor Sun also presented a real-world study in the form of a poster. This study focused on the disease burden of severe COPD when triple therapy fails to achieve adequate control, providing important evidence for optimizing the management strategy of COPD patients in China.
Meanwhile, the research team led by Professor Chang Chun from PKUTH also presented a number of research advances at the congress, providing strong references for the rational clinical selection and standardized management of biological agents.
In recent years, PKUTH Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine has continuously focused on chronic airway diseases such as COPD and asthma, actively deepening international academic exchanges and cooperation, and promoting China’s experience in the prevention and treatment of respiratory diseases to the global stage.
