Peking University First Hospital Holds International Exchange Conference on Perioperative Medicine

On September 28, 2025, the "Connecting Indonesia, Thailand, and Bangladesh to Share New Anesthesia Insights under the Belt and Road Initiative — International Exchange Conference on Perioperative Medicine" was successfully held at the Department of Anesthesiology, Peking University First Hospital (PKUFH). This conference aimed to leverage the framework of the "Belt and Road" Initiative, promote in-depth dialogue and collaboration with countries along the route in the field of perioperative medicine, and jointly map out a new blueprint for the development of anesthesiology.

The conference brought together top anesthesiology scholars from countries along the "Belt and Road" Initiative. Foreign experts participating in this exchange included Professor ATM Khalilur Rahman, Head of the Department of Cardiac Anesthesia and Critical Care at the National Heart Foundation and Research Institute in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and President of the Bangladesh Society of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anesthesiologists; Professor Suraphong Lorsomradee, Head of the Division of Cardiothoracic Vascular Anesthesia, Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, Thailand, and Council Member of the Asian Society of Cardiothoracic Anesthesia; and Dr. Heru Kurniawan, Specialist in Cardiovascular Anesthesia at Adam Malik Hospital, Indonesia.

After the academic presentations, the three foreign experts paid a visit to PKUFH’s operating areas. In the subsequent discussion session, both parties engaged in lively and in-depth exchanges on topics such as perioperative management strategies for critically ill patients and key points of postoperative intensive care. They also reached a preliminary consensus on conducting clinical fellowships, personnel training, and various forms of research project cooperation in the future.
