On June 19, 2025, Professor Fabien Reyal, Director of the Department of Breast Surgery at the Cancer Hospital of Curie Research Center in Paris, which ranks the first among oncology research centers in France, visited the Department of General Surgery of Peking University Third Hospital (PKUTH). Relevant personnel of PKUTH from the Department of General Surgery, Department of Pathology, Department of Medical Oncology and Radiation Sickness, Department of Radiation Oncology, and Nursing Department, participated in the academic exchange.

At the exchange meeting, Professor Reyal introduced the overall situation of the Department of Breast Surgery at the Curie Research Center Cancer Hospital and delivered a special academic report on the necessity and advantages of performing breast oncoplastic surgery. He fully affirmed PKUTH’s whole-course management model for patients with early breast cancer and the multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment model (MDT) for patients with complex breast cancer. He encouraged the further promotion of breast oncoplastic breast-conserving and reconstruction surgeries, the practice of the “minimal yet most effective” treatment concept for breast tumors, emphasizing breast preservation while achieving radical cure of tumors, attaching importance to patients’ mental health, and improving their quality of life.‌
